Big As Texas Fest: More Than Just Music

With only a few days left until the inaugural Big As Texas Fest, excitement is building as producers, crew members, musicians, craftsmen, and festival enthusiasts prepare for the weekend! Appropriately named, this festival is massive and will take place at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds, offering an impressive music lineup, including performances by Thomas Rhett, Dierks Bentley, Billy Strings, Midland, Clay Walker, Warren Zieders, Dwight Yoakum, 49 Winchester, and more! But it doesn’t stop there….to merely call Big As Texas a music festival would be a massive understatement. There are so many events, attractions, and food options that I’m afraid three days might not be enough time to experience all the festival has to offer, but you know what they say, everything’s bigger in Texas!

I had the honor of speaking with Trey Diller, festival co-founder of Big As Texas Fest, who has been putting together events and festivals for over a decade. In addition to his professional experience, Trey is an avid festival-goer himself, and he pays close attention to the details that make events like this successful. “You name the festival, I’ve been to it: Coachella, Lolla, Bonnaroo, ACL,” he explained. “We have some very unique elements that none of the major music festivals in the country or world feature, and so we’re really excited about that.”

Big As Texas truly has something for everyone. Aside from the incredible music performances, there will be carnival rides and games, barrel racing, pig races, a custom hat maker, a tattoo artist, cigar rollers, tomahawk throwing, line dancing lessons, a car show, silent auction, live fire cooking, and so much more! There’s more than one way to experience Big As Texas. From the air-conditioned tiny homes to the glamping tents to the RV slips a mere 125 yards from the main stage, there are so many options to enjoy. I’m telling you right now, you might as well book your ticket for next year, because there’s no way you’re going to be able to see it all!

“We started planning this concept in September of 2022,” Trey told me after listing off some of the incredible attractions, including a 150ft. bouncy house! “Something of this magnitude takes that and then some to be able to pull off.”

It’s been a long time coming, but it is absolutely worth the wait. This inaugural event will certainly be the talk of the town and beyond. The team behind Big As Texas has been extremely intentional with every detail, and all of it stems from their mission to raise awareness around mental health issues and suicide prevention. In fact, that’s what Trey said he is most excited about!

“This is near and dear to my heart, number one, but near and dear to this county, because unfortunately Montgomery County is at the top in the country in suicide rate per capita.” Trey reveal this shocking statistic and shared with me how it has impacted his life personally. Being a lifelong resident of Montgomery County, he truly cares for the community and is determined to make a difference. “We’re looking to make a statement in the industry, but more importantly an impact in the community.”

The festival has an impressive list of 40 non-profits that it’s supporting, who will have a physical presence at the festival. There will be activations and booths all across the property, sharing positive messages and resources to educate and help the people around them.

“They’re gonna actually be able to get face-to-face with people and interact and just explain to them what their services consist of,” Trey explained. “If they can help somebody on their end then we did our mission.”

Additionally, organizers are donating 10 percent of net ticket proceeds from each individual ticket sold!

We are so excited for things to kick off this Friday and Local Concert Buddy will be there to cover it all! If you’re already feeling the FOMO, don’t worry tickets are still available at BigAsTexasFest.com

See you there!
